Our 2016 Vegan SoulFest Guest Speakers:
A certified holistic nutrition and wellness consultant and expert, Dr. Ruby Lathon is a dynamic speaker, author, and educator and hosts a number of seminars, workshops and healthful vegan cooking demonstrations. Her credits include speaking at the Congressional Black Caucus Panel, as a contributing writer for African American Lifestyle Magazine, an author of the upcoming book, Above the Clouds, and as the host of The Veggie Chest, a plant-based cooking show, now featured on FoodChannel.com, Curious.com, and the cable television channel, The Venture Channel.
Dr. Milton R. Mills
Keynote Speaker, The Comparative Anatomy of Eating
Doctor Milton R. Mills is a firm believer in plant-based diets. In his work with patients he has seen plant-based diets improve or even eliminate the symptoms diabetes, heart disease, HIV, and AIDS. His speaking engagements span the country at hospitals, churches, and community centers.

Our Festival Creators
Brenda N. Sanders
Co-founder and Co-organizer
Brenda Sanders serves as Executive Director of Better Health, Better Life, a public health organization and is Co-Director of Open the Cages Alliance, an animal advocacy organization in Baltimore, MD.
Through Better Health, Better Life, Brenda runs the Eating for Life program, a series of free workshops aimed at teaching people in low-income communities how to live a healthier, more holistic lifestyle. With Open the Cages Alliance, she co-organizes the Vegan Living Program, a six-week education program that teaches the basics of transitioning to the vegan lifestyle.
Brenda also a founding member of PEP Foods, Inc., a collective vegan activists and vegan business owners in Baltimore City who are working towards food justice . She also organizes the Veganism Support Group, a monthly potluck and discussion group for new and aspiring vegans. In her spare time, Brenda helps to organize social justice events and demonstrations in the Baltimore area.

Naijha Wright is the Co-owner of and Director of Marketing for The Land of Kush, a vegan soul food restaurant located in Baltimore, MD.
Through Naijha’s strategic marketing initiatives the restaurant experienced exponential growth within four years of opening. She develops relationships and collaborates with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and schools and churches who share in the mission of promoting dietary, ethical, or environmental veganism. Naijha also co-founded and organizes Vegan SoulFest, an annual vegan festival catered to Baltimore’s inner city communities. Ms. Wright has spoken and made appearances at radio stations, schools and community events throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C.
